Has anyone had experience with these mini-laptop computers?
I was wondering about the ASUS eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Notebook in particular. I will be giving it as a gift to my mother who really just needs it to go online, check email and play bingo. The price is great I just want to make sure she will be able to use it with her ethernet she already has.
If this one is no good, can you recommend another computer around the same price range?

The ASUS eeePCs are wonderful for the casual user. It is just like a normal laptop with a few lowers specs, but all in all a good little box. The only concern I have is the size. As well as being small in display and size, the keyboard is as well and is rather difficult to use for some users. If this is no problem for you or her, then I say go for it.
And as for using the existing broadband connection, you will have no problems unless you had a direct cable connection with a female BNC connector NIC, but this is unlikely. You most likely use a female RJ-45 Ethernet cable connector and this is the industry standard.
