I'm trying to set my tv up as an alternate computer monitor, but I'm confused as to what cable to use.?
I currently have my lap top running off a 17 inch LCD computer monitor (my laptop screen broke) and now I want to run a cable from my computer to my tv, for watching movies and what not. I just don't know what my options are as to what cables I can use. For instance, can I continue to use my computer w/ my 17 inch monitor, and just plug an HDMI to PC cable into the monitor and run it to the PC input or an HDMI to and HDMI? Because the d-sub cable from my laptop to my tv doesn's have the sound run through the tv, which I would like. I need help.
If your laptop has an HDMI output, you should use a standard HDMI cable to connect it to an HDMI port on your HDTV.
If your computer only has a 15-pin VGA output, then you need to use the VGA input on your HDTV (if it has one). You cannot connect computer VGA to HDTV HDMI.
