How many yards of fabric do I need for a laptop sleeve?
I'm trying to make my own cute laptop sleeve for my 17 inch screen laptop b/c I can't find any that I like in the size I need. I need to know how many yards of fabric I will need to buy in order to make something like this: http://www.caselogic.com/17_laptop_sleeve/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=123158
The measurments for my laptop are:
Width: 15.46" (392.6mm)
Height: 11.36" (288.6mm)
Depth: 1.18" (30mm) front / 1.69" (43mm) back

I found fabric that I like and want to order it over the internet so I can't go to the store and measure it out.
It depends on if you are planning to use a lining with it or not or the type of fabric you are purchasing. I would think double the fabric if you plan this way and some batting a crib size would work. or if you use a prequilted fabric, you would only need a half yard. Provided you use something else for the strap. Fabric usually comes 45 or 60 inches wide so you can get by with a half yard of fabric either way. If you make the strap from the same fabric, I would allow for a yard of fabric total. If you plan to use a zipper and zip it all the way around, I would get at least a 35 inch one.
