2 Gaming Laptops - Which is Superior?
You guys are great help 
I've narrowed it down to these 2 choices for gaming. Keep in mind I'll be playing top games on high settings
A) Alienware

...these are both the same price. Which can handle the best of the best?
They're not the same price, the Alienware is FROM $1099, the cost of the specs you've listed there brings the final price to $3774 at the least...
The Asus is actually better than the basic Alienware (aside from the actual graphics card) so i'd probably go with that, even just upgrading the processor, memory and HDD on the Alienware would cost an extra $600...
To make the Alienware a good gaming laptop you'd need to spend at least $1899, i'd say (4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, dual HD3870s etc.), but the end result would be a far better laptop than the Asus.

Made up my mind about it, i think you should go with the Alienware with these parts:
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870
Intel® Core™2 P8600 2.4GHz (3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

Bringing you to $1249.
The RAM and processor would still be worse than the ones in the Asus, but the graphics card should more than make up for it.
If you wanted to push the boat out i would have suggested configuring the Alienware with this:
Dual 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870
Intel® Core™2 T9600 2.8GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
17-Inch WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD (720p)
Illuminated Keyboard with Numeric Pad
4GB« Dual Channel DDR3 SO-DIMM at 1066MHz – 2 x 2048MB
320GB 7,200RPM (16MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection
At a total of $1899, anything over that would have been overkill.
