New Polycarbonate macbook with 4gb DDR2 or Aluminum Macbook with 4gb DDR3? Value/Speed comments appreciated.?
I need a laptop to last me 4 years in college. I was going to get the 2.4 ghz macbook with 4gb ram, but then read some articles about how the DDR3 isn't really faster due to the greater latency than the latest generation DDR2 RAM.
This is a hard question to answer. DDR3 is actually newer, but is worse in some ways and better in some ways. The aluminum Macbook 2.4 ghz- is what they recommended to me at the college Tech store. The white Polycarbonate is actually the older generation, but they upgraded the Processor speed recently. Aluminum would probably last you longer, i think. If your college has a Computer store on campus, they almost certainly sell macs, and they would probably give you the best advice on which one to get. Did i meantion that the aluminum Macbook 2.4ghz has an illuminated keyboard-if that means anything to you.
