what does it mean when a laptop says it has a 4GB memory and a 320GB hard drive?

Memory is divided into 2 parts. Physical Memory and Virtual Memory. You might know memory as RAM. The higher the memory, the better. Memory is something that runs your systems and programs. For example, if you open up Firefox with lots of videos loading, it will use more Physical Memory. Physical Memory is the memory being used. Programs that are big in size usually takes a lot of memory such as games. Mostly high graphics games. Virtual Memory is a computer system technique which gives an application program the impression that it has contiguous working memory (an address space), while in fact it may be physically fragmented and may even overflow on to disk storage. Well that was from Wikipedia. 320GB Hard drive is easy to explain. You actually might know it. 320GB Hard drive is a hard drive that has 320GB slots for you to store your data. It's where nearly everything in your whole computer is stored. Your OS ( Operating System), programs, games, and other stuff. Hard drives are the main "system" that gets your computer up and running. I'll show you your hard drive, just click Start ( Lower left of the screen ) and click My Computer of Computer, then it should show you your hard drive(s). Hard drive might also be the portable hard drive, which requires a wire. It's just like a Pendrive, but it's larger and it can store more size. Hope I helped!
