Do you think that an ASUS Eee PC 2GB Surf 7" Mini Notebook Laptop Computer with Linux for $299.99 is good?
I have always wanted one!
How comfortable are you with Linux? I bought an Eee 4G and got tired of fighting the Xandros Linux on it after 6 months and installed Windows on it instead. Installing Windows on the Eee 2G is more challenging than on the 4G because the 2G has less disk space, cannot have its RAM upgraded, and its processor is clocked slower. Would you be OK with using OpenOffice, Firefox, and Pidgin instead of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and AOL/Yahoo/MSN Messenger? The other thing to consider is the small 7" screen with low 800x480 resolution and the smaller than normal keyboard. This really makes the computer usable for only a couple hours at a time. It's a good second computer for taking with you to the library or the coffee shop, but it would really stink if you were going to use it for your primary computer.
