Does Apple still manufacture the original macbook core?
I heard they're not making those anymore and the ones in the apple stores are just the ones theyre trying to get rid of...
Apple plays that kind of information close to chest. They never really reveal what their plans are.
It seems very likely that "something" is going to happen with the MacBook line. As they rolled all the aluminum MacBook's into the MacBook Pro line. Now there's just 1 computer in the entire MacBook line, which is a bit peculiar from Apple. But does that mean they're looking to discontinue it in the long run, give it a large re-design/facelift, or maybe bring back multi-colors? Again, no one but Apple knows.
With the laptops all just getting changes/upgrades/whatever a couple months back, I think it safe to believe that the MacBook will be around as is until at least 2010. Early '10 is the expected possible next revamp of the laptops (to tie in with the expected release of the Mobile Core i7 from Intel). But again, its all rumor and speculation.
I don't think Apple wants to give up the price point of the current MacBook. As they are constantly looking to try and lower prices to further increase sales. If they wanted to do that with an aluminum one I think they would have done it with this past shuffle. Whatever they might 'update' to the MacBook, it seems likely for the time being they are committed to keeping it around.
