How to Install apple software on non-Intel systems?
I'm trying to install final cut studio 3 on an apple G4. I'm a PC guy personally but very technically inclined. I found a few guides about extracting the packages from the disks to edit the installation check information, however I'm kinda lost on how to do this. When I open any of the packages it launches the package launcher and kicks me out of the installer due to the limitation. Any know of a good step by step on how to install apple software on non-Intel based systems?
Normally, it's pretty easy: you right click (or control click) on the installer itself and select "Show Package Info" - browse around until you find the verifier and delete it. It works great to install Silverlight 3 on a G4!
That said you are going to run into two (or more) problems aside form the processor requirements: first, FCP is very picky about the graphics card. Even if you get pas thte processor qualifications, the graphics requirement is really going to be an issue. Second, FCP3 needs at least 2GB RAM - does your G4 have that? I know the laptop G4's top out under 2, but I'm not sure about the desktops.
So I don't know man - FCP is one trickey bit of software to try to tweak. Good luck!
