I have Mac OS 9 and need to upgrade to some form of Mac OS X!?
Okay, I going to ask a again. I have the very first Apple Titanium PowerBook G4, and its still running Mac OS 9, that's a problem! I used it for everything, but mostly for school, internet classes, and the internet. I can't do any thing with it the way it is, so a friend told me to download a torrent for OS x v10.4. So I did just that, but she didn't tell me how to burn it to a disk and install it! Remember that I'm working on OS 9, so its an ISO file on a 400 MHz PowerPC G4processor. Thank for any help you can give!

Be sure it is a copy of an Apple DVD, not a "Hackintosh" image. Mac users don't post torrents for ISO files unless they have a weird sense of humor, because the standard image files for OS X are DMG and CDR. Secret: CDR and ISO are the same.
Rename the file from "whatever.iso" to "whatever.cdr". Next, burn the image to a DVD. If you don't have a DVD burner in your Mac, you need to contact someone who has one and ask them to burn it for you. If you have access to a CD burner but no DVD burner, get a different torrent for the OS 10.4 Four-CD Set. That will have two CDs for one-after-the-other install of OS 10.4, a third CD for "Additional Fonts", various printer drivers, and QuickTime installer, and a fourth CD for even more printer drivers. You can get by with only CD 1 and CD 2 if you click the "Custom" button in the installer screen and uncheck "Additional Fonts" and the printer drivers. You can install the one driver you may actually need for your specific printer any time; same for QuickTime. You can save even more space (as much as 2GB) by also unchecking the 16 or so other languages.
The latest version of Mac OS you can install on your PowerBook is OS 10.4.11 which needs...
* A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor (version 10.4.4 or higher can be installed on a 2006 model Intel Mac)
* Built-in FireWire
* At least 256 MB of RAM
* DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
* At least 3 GB of free disk space (less if you do a "Custom" install as I mentioned above)
but you could force OS 10.5 to install by using "LeopardAssist", link below. There really aren't many useful applications that require OS 10.5 other than minor upgrades to applications that ran on OS 10.4.
