Is windows 7 64 bit supported on the ASUS EeeTop PC ET1602?
I bought an ASUS ETP1602C-BK-X0163 with Windows XP and I'd like to upgrade to Windows 7. Do I choose the 32 or 64 bit versions?
Well first you have to check if your processor supports 64 bit. All AMD processors support it, but your going to have to check with Intel. If your upgrading from XP 32-bit then you cannot upgrade to Win7 64 bit because you cannot upgrade to a different bit. You should probably stick with 32-bit, because installing a 64 OS on a 32 bit setup would require you to wipe the hard drive (You will lose all your data), and install the OS from scratch.
As of now there are only a few benefits to choosing 64 bit. Some of which is more RAM access. But the downside is that some programs that were written for 32 bit will not work on 64 bit. (Most will though) 64 bit just isn't worth the change (in my opinion). You will see almost no difference in a 32 bit vs a 64 bit OS.
