why does my dell laptop battery status say plugged in but not charging?
a while back my dell inspiron 1526 laptop suddenly went from fully charged to drained in a span of about 10 minutes. I figured that the AC adapter might be the problem, so I decided to replace it. When I got the new charger, the status remained the same. Then i figured that my battery may be at the end of its life, therefore I got a new battery. Now, after installing this brand spanking new battery from Dell, I get the same message. What is the problem?
same thing happened with my brother's laptop. i was wearing slippers and i was shuffling my feet on the carpet. i then touched his laptop, and it shocked it. you know, like when you get static electricity, and then you touch someone, it shocks them? well i did that to my brother's laptop, and it was doing the same thing. dont replace the battery, thats just a waste of time.
either your outlet isn't getting electricity
or you need a new cable
Sometimes if you drop or set your laptop down on it's back, you break the jack that the adapter plugs in to. I would try and see if you can wiggle it. If you can, it might be broken.
