2.4ghz 4gb ram a/b/g/n/bluetooth with fingerprint reader
Recently the fingerprint reader is not being detected. I tried downloading hp drivers from site and still doesn't detect it. It just stopped working. Anyone have any ideas? Already tried restarting computer a few times.
May be a loose connection somewhere?
I am answering my own problem..LOL.. I had a difficult time solving this problem.. I am hoping I can help others in the future.. (question originally posted by RaidenWoW from forum.tabletpcreview.com.. seems no one replied to him yet)
This issue is applicable to HP Pavilion tx2 series tablets with Authentec Fingerprint sensors (AuthenTec AES1610 device) with Windows Vista operating systems. The newer driver (version 8.0.0.0 or something) "automatically dowloaded" by "Windows Update" or "HP update" is causing the fingerprint sensor not to be recognized by the Digitalpersona Personal software bundled with the fingerprint sensor, eventhough the Device Manager reports that the device is working properly.
The solution to the issue is to install an older driver (version 7.10.1.2).

Install.
Then go to the Device Manager of your tablet pc. ("Click Start", right click "Computer", click "Properties", on the top left panel, click "Device Manager").
Open "Personal identification devices" category, right click "AuthenTec Inc. AES1610" then select "Uninstall". On the prompt box, make sure you check " Delete the driver software for this device ", click "OK".
On the Device Manager window, select "Action" then click " Scan for hardware changes'. The tablet will automatically install the older driver version. Close Device Manager.
Then try running the Digitalpersona Personal software and see if it recognizes the fingerprint sensor.
