What does landscape orientation mean in a lab notebook?
I am taking chem 101 this semester, and for my first prelab assignment I have to put specfic information onto the lab notebook, which is divided in the middle by a line. The assignment reads "Before proceeding, set up your bound notebook with four columns arranged in landscape orientation, which means writing across the long (11inch) dimension of the page instead of across the width. Place the following column headings along the page edge nearest the binding of the notebook: Procedures, Observations, Conclusion, and Balanced Equations. Place Parts 1 and 2 on the first page, part 3 on the second, part 4 on the thid, part 5 and 6 on the fourth, and parts 7 and 8 on the fifth."
What does this mean? The lab notebook is like a normal book with larger bindings. Do I go horizontally? What do I do with the other half of the page? Can you please help me out, I just don't want to go to class with the wrong setup! Thanks a lot.
My attempted diagram of this isn't turning out well given the format involved, but hopefully you can still figure it out. The lines are supposed to be the edges of the page, and the backslashes () are the bound edge. The column names should obviously start farther over, after the row names for "Part 1", etc., but my diagram doesn't want to do that. Basically, the normal orientation of a page is called "portrait", and turning it on its side is called "landscape". Let's see how this works out:
