dvd-rom problem?
unit-dell laptap, o/s windows xp.device in question
philips cdrw/dvd rom scb5265. unit cannot reaelpd any disc.device does not spin smoothly am hearing creaking noise. What can I do to fix it.

The motor bearing may damaged or the dirve has metal item inserted ito it. You need to open the drive casing to see what inside. The disc is held in the drive using magnet on the motor and metal plate on the top side of the case. If you accidently inserted things such as coins in it, it may stuck at the magnet and the disc cannot be held properly. If there is no foreign material in it, thr motor bearing may be damaged. You nee to buy new one.
