Wifi card losing speed?
Today I formatted my computer which meant reinstalling my drivers. How ever, since the format, my wireless connection has gone from being near perfect to low, with my connection speed dropping from 54MBps, down to 24 and now down to 18.
The only problem I can think of is the way I installed the drivers, but I tried uninstalling them without any luck. I have an Intel Centrino ipw2200 paired with a D-Link 524. I had never had any problems in the past until now.
Thanks for your help
- Garion
A lot of things will affect the connection speed. In the device properties there is an advanced tab that has some settings. Look at the devices in the system under control panel and find out what the chipset is that the system uses. If Realtek, go to their site and download the latest drivers for the type such as a 8139. If Intel Pro search the support section on Intel site. There has been three recent upgrades for mine in the past month. Interference is one of the biggest problems. Try changing the wireless channel to 11 to get away from the common sources. Also, has the position of the antennas on the router or the computer changed? Even a 15-20 degree difference can have an adverse effect.
