IBM doesnt want to turn on!? Help!?
Ok so I have an Ibm laptop, and sometimes it starts but most of the times it doesnt. We tried to change the charger because maybe the cats destroyed it but it didnt work. Whenever i try to turn it on, it doesn t do anything. i click the power button but nothing appears , just a black screen. The only way to turn on is by removing battery and cleaning every single part that can be cleaned in the compute. How can i fix this?
Seems like you have some problem with your battery.
Please make the following tests, always starting with the machine powered off:
1. Take the battery out, plug in the power cable and then switch it on. If it comes on, you may have a problem with your battery.
2. Unplug the power cable, put the battery in and see if it boots. If it does, your battery is good and the electrical connections are working.
3. Put your battery back in, plug the power cable back in and see if it boots. If it doesn't, try to wiggle the power plug that goes into your laptop. If it comes on then, you have a bad connection inside the plug or inside the notebook
4. If this doesn't help either try to see if the power cable has some nicks and damaged pieces anywhere. Move the cable around, also the power cable to your charger. Maybe the electrical connection to the charger is bad.
Sometimes there is a problem with the jack inside the laptop. If you can find some online documentation about servicing the laptop and opening it up, and you are willing to do it yourself, you should open the laptop and look at that jack. Did it come lose from the motherboard or wherever it connects to? Is it soldered in properly?
Don't open your laptop computer if you still have warranty on it. If you open the laptop, be prepared to solder the jack properly. You should also have a meter which you need to measure whether there's any power coming from the jack at all.
