Is a chill mat needed for a laptop computer?
I was just curious. I just bought a laptop and was looking at accessories.
They are not necessary, but depending on the laptop they can keep your Laptop cooler. This in turn will give your processor, and everything else inside of your machine, added life. Laptops do not have nearly the "airiness" of a tabletop. They generally only have one fan and can get quite warm if used for long periods of time. Bear in mind that the new Core 2 Duo processors run cooler than their Core Duo and Dual Core predecessors. If you purchased a Core 2 machine, you really don't need one. If it was an older used machine, or a more cost effective new one, and has a single core processor, it is a good idea to get one. Check your processor and let that determine whether to spend the extra money.
