Can a bad CMOS battery affect the performance of the main battery in a laptop?
I know i need a CMOS batter for my laptop, keeps falling 3 hours behind on its time. My main battery just wont hold a charge and ive had it replaced, still wont hold a charge. My question is this do i need to get a new CMOS battery before getting a new main battery? Or does it not matter?
the CMOS battery in my laptop is very easy to get to when replacing. I asked for a replacement one once from the seller but i think they gave me one out of another laptop that was no good. After installing the new CMOS battery the computer still loses time by 3 hours then holds at that point. My main battery will not hold a charge and I have replaced it before also by getting another one form the seller. The main battery replacement wont hold a charge either. I was just wondering if i replaced the CMOS battery if the main battery would start holding a charge?
I would replace the CMOS battery first. They aren't very expensive & it's important to keep things up to date on your laptop. You may be able to replace it yourself though sometimes it can be hard to get to it. Go to the manufacturer website & see if they have a link to show you how to do it.
