Should i get a hp Pavilion laptop?
I got a hp compaq elitebook 8730w, but its my moms, so do you think that the pavilion laptop dv9819wm is better than the compaq 8730w?

Get any brand or model of laptop that gives you the following:
1. any dual core CPU
2. a dedicated graphics chip such as ATI 3650 or greater or NVidia 8600 or greater
3. any 7200 rpm hard drive
4. 4 gig RAM
5. better LCD resolution than the crappy low end 1280x800
So the answer is if it has those specs, get it! Otherwise search around a bit and see how much of the above you can get for your budget...

Sony's are almost as poor a value as Macbooks - finding a Sony with a dedicated graphics chip inside really brings the price up because hey that costs Sony more money! And well Macbooks going for $2000 still have crappy Intel 3100 integrated graphics chips in them that make them one of the greatest ripoffs of all time or a brilliant marketing effort to increase Apple profits depending on your point of view...
