What can i use to wipe thermal paste off a heat sink/cpu?
I have a business laptop (Dell Vostro 1000) that LOVES to get high in temperatures (65c or so) and it crashes which is horrible because ill lose all my work that i've been working on for over an hour. Anyways, i bought some Arctic Silver 5 and a Thermaltake 230mm laptop cooling pad for it hoping to solve the problem. I plan on blowing all the dust out of it while i have her opened up.
Last time i cleaned off a heatsink/cpu a guy i know who's working with very high end computers $5k+ just used some ethanol and it seemingly worked great. Im just wondering if there's any other house hold item that would work like that.
Just use a clean To wipe off the excess then use alcohol to clean it take care not to get your finger prints on it.
I use lacquer thinner then clean the surfaces with alcohol.
