Upgrading ram in Toshiba Laptop ?
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4004. I plan on upgrading the ram to 2 GB from the 1 GB that is installed now. I am trying to figure out what type of ram to buy. The Corsair and Crucial websites say that my laptop supports DDR PC2-5300 but all the other websites say it supports DDR2 PC2-4200.
I don't know who to believe.
So should I trust Crucial and Corsair and buy the PC2-5300 or should I trust all the other websites and buy the PC2-4200? My laptop probably supports both of these types of memory but I want to be absolutely sure I am buying the right type.
Any help would be appreciated.
I just update the ram in my Toshiba Satellite to 4 GB from 2 GB. On Toshiba website it showed PC4200 DDR2 333 but for the larger ram only PC 5300 DDR2 667 Mhz. Also checked with http://www.frys.com from whom I purchase mine on sale for $35.00 and they said I had to use the PC5300. It worked with no problems. Also here is Toshiba site check it there also: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/findMemory.jsp
Hope this helps
