What does memory DDR3 mean on a laptop and what is the difference to memory SATA on a laptop?
DDR3 is a type of Dynamic Random Access Memory used by the computer, it is Double Date Rate version 3, and is currently the faster type of RAM on the market. It comes in various speeds, as did DDR and DDR2. The bigger the numbers the faster it can transmit and receive data, DDR3 starts at 400MHz and runs up to (at present) 1066MHz . The data rate is twice the clock speed, so at 400MHz the data rate is 800 MT /s (Mega-transfers per second - or one million transfers of data) at 1066 the data rate is 2133 MT /s.
There is no Memory SATA on a laptop nor any other computer, SATA is a type of data connection and format, it actually stands for Serial Advanced technology attachment.
Are you confusing memory with Hard Drive storage space?
You would have perhaps 3gb of memory (RAM) and maybe 500Gb of HD (Hard Drive) storage capability.
