Would i be better off buying a dell lattitude for $130 or going to the pawn shop and buying one.?
I need a good one for college but i don't have a lot of money..
Well I'd say opt for the Dell Latitude. Here's why...
You said you don't have a lot of money to spend. Well Dell has me baffled here. You see the Latitude series is a very durable well functioning series. The Inspiron series, not so hot. The reason I am baffled is because Dell sells the Latitudes (which are far better) for less than the Inspirons.
Now, having said all that, $130.00 is a red flag. Either the unit is old and won't sustain Office 2007 (which is what you will be using) and that means XP or Vista. Now I know of no laptop that sells for that cheap with an operating system and is NOT faulty in some way.
If money is an issue, goto your local PC shop (that sells used equipment) and have them order you a Dell Latitude D600 (or in that seires which actually includes the 500's and the 800's as well).
The average list price for these are less than $350.00 new. They include Wireless (D600 and 610 anyway), about 512mb Ram, XP, usually a 20-60gb hard drive. The vintage of these units is 2004-05.
They are 1 inch thick closed. They come with a 15.3 inch screen which is a bit odd but none the less, good.
The units use a single pin barrel Powersupply that can be used on ANY latitude model vintage 2002 and up.
The Latitudes are tech friendly and can be completely disassembled and reassembled in less than 1 hour which makes hardware repairs far more affordable.
