i have ordered a dell studio xps 16, i think it looks like a fairly good laptop.

Good choice, Dell Studio XPS is solid laptop and can withstand the 18 hours of straight use per day. And it will last a long time. The weakness is support which is consumer level. If you have a problem support call will last about two hours on average. The good side is they like most support will give you the run around, but less than HP and in the end they are committed to fix your problem. The best part is the warranty repair. Let say you spill milk on the keyboard and the laptop stopped working and the warranty run out. You can call Dell and buy a warranty again and have them repair your laptop at lower cost than buying a new motherboard at $1600.
