How do I hook my tower stand hard drive up to my laptop?
My monitor on my desktop is not working, so I would like to view my desktop hard drive on my laptop monitor. Is this even possible?
Sure, many many ways.
You can either find a cheap replacement monitor at a thrift store for under $10.00 until You decide on a fancier new one, or You can get a set of cables to hook the system up to a TV set or an RCA input just like You would a PS2/3, or You can log onto it remotely from another system with a network connection.
All those solutions will allow You to view the system as it works already, but to simply view the files on the drive You can do this ...
Go to any of these sites and find a USB to IDE cable, they run about $8.00 to $20.00 at most of these sites, and some have options like SATA support or 1-touch backup buttons. Then You simply remove the drive from the desktop and plug in the cable to the usb port, and the wall plug into the wall outlet to power the drive.
These cables also have adapters for using a laptop drive on a desktop system on the back of the cable, so they work for both directions, and are almost a toolbox requirement for virus cleanings and system dumps / backup for reformattings.

BTW - If You do decide to get a case option instead, keep in mind that it won't be for any drive but the one You install into it, where the cable option simply unplugs from a drive and plugs into another in seconds, and the first site on the list has several external drive cases that also allow You to use videos, music, and pictures on a standard TV set for about $35.00 as well as working as an external case.
Cruise the sites for a while, shop wisely for what YOU specifically need (or want), and enjoy the best of the new tech!!.
Good Luck!.
