Are failed drug test results kept on your DOT record? If so how long?
I am trying to find out before I go for another driving job, will the results of my past failed drug screen hinder me from obtaining another job. It was irresponsible for me to use POT knowing that the chance of a random screen was possible. I was let go from my job back in November 2009 and have since not used any type of drugs or alcohol! I messed up really bad and I want to go back to doing what I love most. I hope I did not screw up permenately. How can I go about requesting my DOT record to see whats on there before I actually start looking for another job?
If you failed a random drug test it will remain on your permanent record (DAC Report) forever. Any companies who hire commercial drivers are required to do a 10-year background check before they can put a driver to work, and a failed drug screen will knock you out of the competition for ANY job that requires a DOT safety check. I suggest you forget about driving for a living and go find some other line of work.
