how do i reinstall a dvd/cdrw drive on my computer?
My operating system is Windows Vista on a dell Inspiron Notebook..I was having trouble with the drive recognizing CDR'a so I tried to update the driver from dell...Now when I reboot my system..I get an error message that the cdrom has a problem or is not recognised, and then starts Vista Without the CD rom present?..I have factory restored the computer, flashed the bios..and still get the error?...ANy help PLEASE...It does not even say I have a cdrom installed in System manager..PLEASE..how do I manually install a a CD ROM in vista?..I have all the driver disks on CD..but can not access them..and the CDROM is TSST Please help..Thanks!
Try to enter you system setup or BIOS screen. restart the system and press F2 when you see the dell logo. check if the cd drive is detected here. if not, his might be a hardware issue since you have flashed the bios.
if the drive is seen, try this. 1. reseat the drive. 2. delete upper and lower filters. here's how: run REGEDIT and then navigate to this hive:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete. do the same for Lower Filters.
