DVD/rom drive does not recognize CD's or DVD's?
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. When I put any program disk, CD or DVD into the DVD/rom drive and want to run it, I get a pop up telling me to "Please insert a disk into drive D:" when it's already inserted.
Does this mean I need to replace this part or is there another option to fix this problem.
it usually happens when you use a burned cd or dvd. especially when the cd/dvd is burned at max speed. not all hardware can read 16x dvd. i usually burn dvd at 4x-8x. i have an Acer laptop. it can read cd-r fine, but cant recognize dvd-R or dvd+r. it works fine in my desktop. i realized that if i burn the dvd at 4x speed. it could read it.
well, if you wanna get a new dvd rom, its up to you. its not that expensive.
btw, if your dvd rom cant even read retail copy disks, then you should replace it.
