What laptop/notebook do you recommend for developing software?
These are the specs I'm looking for:
* Intel Core 2 Duo >= 2.0 Ghz (or AMD equivalent)
* >= 2 GB RAM
* Fast Hard Drive (Very important)
* Big screen to improve readability
* Nice and comfortable keyboard
* Less than $1,500
What I'm not looking for:
* Don't need 3D graphics or gaming laptop
* Don't need a lot of HD space as I'm using external HDD.
* Don't need a light weight laptop as I only plan to move it once in a while.
* Don't need long battery life as I only plan to use it plugged in.
I hope you can help me because there are lots of options and I'm very confused. I want to hear from personal experience not some advertising. Thank you very much for your help.
To work on large projects (e.g. corporate or open-source Java or C++ applications), memory is by far the most important thing to have. Followed by a fast CPU. The rest doesn't matter. My suggestion... Go to pricewach or pricegrabber and type "2gb core duo laptop" and pick the cheapest...
