Laptop won't charge when on my lap?
I am thinking that the various air outputs are getting blocked, causing the air intake to fail thus stopping my charging
Would getting a Laptop tray help to sort this issue out?
Currently I am using a folded up stool to keep it from making contact with my legs and allowing air intake to occur, but It's very heavy and I need something more permenant.
that is not your problem, it is the pressure you are putting on the charging pin and plug that is the issue here. if you balance the laptop on your knees so that the mains plug (where it goes into the laptop) is hanging down does the charging light come on?
No? Move the cable so you take the tension off the input socket, does it come on now?
Yes? the cable is possibly damaged or more likely the socket itself, it is not such a problem when on a harder surface because the cable has a bit more support and connects properly. But when on a softer surface (you) the cable is hanging down and I suspect the solder around the input socket is damaged.
If under warranty return to the manufacturer for repair (be advised if they determine it is your fault and not a manufacturing fault you will be charged for the repair)
If not under warranty then get it fixed or risk a short circuit and destruction of the mainboard (bigger repair bill!)
