Can I upgrade my laptop GHz?
Hello, my name is Dylan and I bought myself a nice little Compaq Presario CQ50 106CA Notebook PC, and I wanted to upgrade the GHz from 2000 MHz to a higher one, preferrably 2400 MHz or maybe even 3100 MHz.
Can I just go to a Best Buy w/my laptop and some $$$ and ask them to please upgrade my laptop? Or will it format my PC?

Every computer has a chip called a CPU (central proccesing unit) and it's factory set at a certain GHz which can also be measured in MHz (1000Mhz = 1Ghz). This chip can be exchanged for another one that's faster, but this is usually not the case with laptops and if it is, it can be quite expensive. However it will not format your PC to exchange the CPU with another.
The other option is called overclocking, which is extreamly complicated and requires both time and a vast knowledge of the inner workings of computers, this method can destroy your CPU and will void your waranty. If you have a REALLY tech savy friend then they may be able to help you, but they aren't going to be able to do much. A Compaq Presario is not engineered to allow much varience and significant speed increases would be nigh imposible to achive.
The best way to upgrade a laptop is to maximise the amount of RAM it can hold. This is something BestBuy would be capable of doing and it would most likely be quite cheap. Just bring your laptops manual with you when you go, if you don't have it they can probably findout what they need to do on their own.
