A dual core laptop seems to be more responsive and starts up alot faster than my C2Q Oced Desktop?
I have a Toshiba Satellite Notebook with following specs:
AMD Athlon X2 QL-62 (2 GHZ)
2GB DDR2 RAM at 667 MHZ
Integrated ATI GPU 3100
160GB 5400rpm HDD
Windows 7 HP
And a Desktop with following specs:
Intel C2Q Q9550 oced to 3.83 GhZ
4GB DDR2 at 900 MHZ
ATI HD4870 1GB
WDC Black 1TB 7.2krpm
Windows 7 Ultimate
The laptops is a year older than the desktop and still uses all its factory parts( i.e. RAM and HDD ) but i did upgrade it to Win7 just 4 months ago whereas the desktop has been using the same installation of Win 7 for a year now.
The desktop runs fine (i.e. better than the laptop) while gaming and video converting but when it comes to boot up time and responsiveness while surfing the web and everyday use....the laptop is much faster....even though I clean temporary files,optimize registry,keep startup programs(not services) to a minimum using CCleaner on both PCs....What could be the reason behind this?
Desktop has 64 bit and Laptop has 32 bit.
are you running 64 bit versions on both? check msconfig to see what is starting up with the desktop
