I have Ibm think pad 240 with no O,S I got a new hard drive and installed it but now I get a message saying?
Partiyion table is disabled or does not exits save to file is dissabled run ph disk
to top it all off I don;'t think I can boot from my usb drive please help me.
Well, new hard drives are blank... you know... nothing on them. No partitions, no Operating Systems, nothing. So, if you put a new hard drive in a computer and turn it on... nothing useful is going to happen. You will get an error relating to how the hard drive cannot work properly... just as you have already gotten.
So, this is where you would take the Recovery Discs that came with your laptop, you put the first one in the optical drive, and you boot to the disc. You then follow the recovery process.
If you purchased this 5 year old IBM thinkpad (Because Lenovo bought the laptop division of IBM 5 years ago, and no IBM Thinkpads have been made since then... only Lenovo Thinkpads) without a hard drive and without an OS, then you will have to trek to the nearest Staples or Best Buy, and purchase a copy of an Operating System.
At any rate, you NEED a valid copy of an Operating System. You can always try Linux. For that, I recommend Linux Mint. http://www.linuxmint.com just download the ISO of Linux Mint 8 Main, make a disc from it, boot to the disc, and install.
