How do i install a SATA HDD onto an IDE mainboard? i have a converter but BIOS won't detect, set d jumper too?
hey guys, How do i install a SATA HDD onto an IDE mainboard? i have a converter that i install to the mainboard IDE slot but BIOS still won't detect the HDD, i set d jumper too to set the b/w limit of 1.5 gigs.. Mainboard's an ASUS A7V400-MX...
This can be a bugger for figure out.
I can just give some things to try, not a specific solution.
Look for a bios update for the motherboard. It may need an update to support larger drives.
See if the drive has jumper to set to SATAI verses SATAII. Check the drives manual, look on the drive for printed directions...may need a supercomputer to figure out the diagram, or look on thier website. Setting it to SATAI may fix it.
Check if there is a way to enable "Onchip SATA" in bios.
Disable RAID.
