My wireless lazer mouse is being weird?
I have a dell laptop, inspiron e1705. I have a Kensington PocketMouse laser mouse, model #72268. Now, when I plug in the usb device to use the mouse, I can use it fine for about 30 minutes. After that, the pointer starts to move on it's own, jerky and not wanting to go where I move the mouse. Is this a common problem with wireless mice, or is it a windows vista driver communication problem, and is there any way I can fix this? If I unplug the usb drive that came with it, and plug it in 10 minutes later it is fine again for 30 minutes, then the same thing.
Actually, and I think this is worth looking into, the problem was not the mouse. It was the mouse pad. For some reason, the lazer freaks out on soft surfaces, but on hard surfaces it works 100% fine, such as on a folder or a book. Impractical I know, but it works very good this way.
This is not a Vista problem, the problem is your mouse. It probably lost connection with the receiver from time to time and when it did connection it will take a while before it can register. You may want to move the mouse receiver to another location or different usb port. If you have any wireless devices near the receiver, you may want to move them to another location to see if it helps. Check Kensington website for a new driver or a work around. I have quite a few wireless mouse with all kind of wireless devices nearby and doesn't have any problems. You may want to get another mouse, like a Logitech mouse instead. It's more reliable and you won't have any interference from your wireless devices.
