Is my laptop giving me mild electrical shocks?
When my laptop is plugged in, I feel stinging, burning little sensations when my arm touches the sides or my leg is touching the bottom. Is this dangerous? It's a nuisance but can this hurt me?
This happens with a number of of laptops. Metal parts such as headphone sockets can give you an 18v shock and this is noticeable on bare skin as a mild stinging. It's unlikely to hurt you, just irritating.
The cure? Put some clothes on. They will insulate you. The real cure would be better laptop design.
