Should I worry about humid basement effect on computer (laptop)?
I just moved into 'free rent ville' aka roommates moms house. I had the option of living in the part of the living room that was sectioned off, or making the basement livable.
I chose basement.
The downside is - its quite damp. The dehumidifier runs a few hours a day and pulls out most of the moisture, but the fact that there is moisture for it to pull out concerns me for my computer use.
Should I be worried that it will harm my computer?
I was considering storing it in my bedside stand while I am not using it.
Also, the basement is pretty cold, Its 90* outside, and I am comfortable under my feather blanket down here.
A little excess moisture in the air will not harm the computer if it is in operation. However, if it is off for long periods of time it could cause internal corrosion. My guess is that the dehumidifier is keeping the humidity within acceptable limits. The cold is actually a plus for the computer.
