What is an express card slot do an a laptop?
I'm deciding between a Toshiba Satellite and a Dell Inspiron (both are $550). The Dell has an express card slot, while the Toshiba does not. What does an express card do, is it an essential feature, and can I get along without it if I decided to go with the Toshiba?
The express card slots are for expanding your laptop. You can get cards to give you more ports (like firewire, USB, and eSATA ports) or you can get sound cards for better audio, and TV tuners for watching TV on your laptop.
Most people find that they don't need it, but it's an option if you want/need any of those features and they don't already come with the laptop.
