Laptop severe overheating problem
My laptop is about a year old. It's an Acer Aspire 3680, and it overheats pretty badly. The exhaust is VERY hot, and you can feel the heat by just hovering your hand about a quarter of an inch over the keyboard.
The touchpad is hot too, and the cursor lags when it gets too hot. I have a chill mat, and this keeps the temperature down considerably, but before I had it, a sticker on the bottom of the notebook even melted off!
I have cleared the intake grids of dust, using a Q-tip. And it didn't help.
Any ideas?
Hi YEE
Don;t worry if it gets hot. That means the fan is doing its job. All laptop overheats. If it is a toshiba, their is anissue with them where the battery pack heats up too much and eventually can damage the HD which is close by.
I suggest putting a 1/4" shims on each corner underneath the back corners. It will raise slightly off the table and allow proper cooling. Plus , it gives you a better feel with keyboard slightly tilted.
