I don't want any apple fanboys blabbing about the mac.
It depends on what you wanna do, if you play games go with the envy 17 it has an ATI Mobility Radeon 5850 with 1gb gpu and the gpu also has a feature called eyefinity which allows you to hook it up to three displays. The only problem with the Hp envy 17 is that it recently came out so there are not that many reviews on how well it performs. The macbook pro 15 well you know the basics it has longer battery life, its not as prone to viruses. I don't have either of these laptops im just telling you what I heard and read. I would probably go with the HP Envy 17 simply because it has better hardware. Amazon.com you can get the envy 17 for $1649 with a core i7 8gb of ram and a 640 gb hard drive. On the HP website it will cost you over $2000.
