Is there any way to reformat a Laptop hard drive that has a hard drive lock and requires password?
The laptop I have has a hard drive lock and requires a password to boot. I tried to reformat but It would not. Im guessing because of the hard drive lock. Is it possible to remove that hard drive and place it in an external enclosure and try to reformat from my desktop? I would just like to know before I go out and purchase an external enclosure.
Well, either try booting from CD to reformat the hard drive (doesn't require running from the hard drive, and kinda overwrites the password) or just set the hard drive up as a slave to another one on a different computer. You shouldn't need an external enclosure, just set your pins and hook it up secondary. Go to your bios, and ensure its set up for a slave, and bingo.
Now just hope you can disable the password that way as well.
