Can I use wireless headphones with my laptop?
Having little understanding of the types and uses of wireless headphones frees me to ask this (probably) very basic question! There seem to be several types of wireless headphones. I have a laptop that can connect wirelessly with the outside world - even I have managed to setup a wireless connection with my home printer. It has Wireless 802.11a/b/g LAN. But I don't have Bluetooth. Do I need a transmitter connected to my laptop to receive music on wireless headphones? What does RF stand for?
There are a number of different types of 'wireless' headphone.
Some use radio waves, others infra red light.
Bluetooth is a form of wireless connection using digitally coded radio waves that can be used for audio, some headphones might use this.
For all of these you will require the appropriate transmitter plugged into your laptop.
None that I know of use the 802.11 radio (WiFi).
RF stands for Radio Frequency.
