Better gaming laptop? i5 vs i7?
In the market looking for a mid to high end gaming laptop. I'm stationed overseas so I am probably going with a Dell computer for the simple fact they work well with shipping to APO.
My question is, should I go with a dual core i5 or the quad core i7?
At this point, I'm not certain which games I will be playing, but I want to be ready for anything.
Basically, I want to know if a higher frequency 2 core i5 will be better for a 2 threaded game over a lower frequency i7 with quad core.
The i5's are duel core and at the MOMENT they will run some games slightly better than the i7's however when games hit quad core support the i7's will dominate, so the answer to your question is the i7's are better in the long run.
If your going for an Alienware presuming your looking at them on the dell website then go for the M15x with the ATI 5850 GPU which is better and cheaper than the Nvidia 260M also it has DDR5 and can be overclocked with ease to hit the ATI 5870 core speeds

oh and the i7 720QM is still better than all the i5's even though it is lowest of them all.
