Laptop cooling pad question?
I recently purchased a Lenovo Y560 laptop and due to its core i7 I figured it would be smart to get a laptop cooling pad. The laptop's output vents (from what I can tell) are on the left side of the computer and its input vents are on the bottom. The laptop cooling pad I bought was the Antec Laptop Cooling Pad. This pad pulls air from the bottom of the laptop and vents it out the bottom of the pad. I am wondering, should I be ok with this cooler, even though the laptop pulls air from the bottom? Or should I look for a cooler that blows air up to the bottom of the laptop?
Also, if I should change pads, does anyone have a good recommendation?
Any recommendations? I mean I don't want the laptop and the pad to compete for air.
You should be fine, the pad is a general area cooler and doesnt necessarily target the CPU. Even so, I doubt you really need the pad unless you are gaming or running very demanding programs. The i7 should run relatively cool at idle speeds.
Just something to try out, download this little program called RealTemp. It should be the first result on google. You can set it so that it shows you the CPU temperature in the notification area in the bottom right corner. See what kind of temps you get with and without the cooler and then you can make your own call on your question.
