Laptop power?
I have been told that when using a laptop the battery should be in the laptop even when using mains power. Is this true? If so why?
Generally, you want the battery in, yes, but you shouldn't NEED it to be in.
BUT, you also want to let the battery run down at least once a week.
It's a laptop, it likes to be free of it's mains lead, and as someone else said, (and as my girlfriend and daughter have proven to my complete satisfaction) leaving them plugged in 24/7 kills the battery real quick.
I sell used dell laptops, and in my experience all of the "C" series laptops can be left running 24/7 for months on end, providing of course, that you let the battery discharge at least once a week.
