cracked lcd screen. QUICK question...

The only thing I need to know at this point, is if it will damage my laptop by running it when the LCD screen is cracked? Obviously the crack is not bad enough that I cannot see the screen, but there is some black ink on the screen, as well as the crack itself. The case is not damaged, nor is the protective screen on top of the LCD screen...
I'm going to be getting one on Ebay when I find one for a good price, but should I set the laptop aside until then? :S haha.
I have run Laptops with cracked screens, sometimes for hours, so I could get data off. You shouldn't have a problem. However, the movement of the lcd part of the laptop case may increase damage and the size of the crack may spread...I'd just use and external monitor.
