Help i7 core, quad core, or dual core for gaming?
I have 3 laptops to chose from, one have i7 core and have the gts 250 video card with 18" monitor w/ 8gb ram, another one have quad core and have the gtx 260 video card and 4gb ram, and the last one have dual coreand have gtx 260 video card with 6gb ram. Which one is better for gaming?
The core i7 model has the weakest graphics card (GTS 250) so despite the most powerful CPU it's actually the worst of the 3 for gaming.
Of the two laptops with GTX 260 graphics, what are the CPU models and clockspeeds? A really fast duo (like a 3Ghz E8400) beats a really slow quad (like a 2.3Ghz Q8200) for gaming. Generally, CPU clock speed is more important than number of cores.
But if they're fairly close like 2.6Ghz vs 2.8Ghz, go for the quad. Only a few games (Crysis, GTA, Supreme Commander) really perform better on quads than duos. The additional 2gb of memory doesn't matter and shouldn't affect your decision.
