how can i use my built-in webcam as a security camera?
Hi all,
Juts would like some advice if possible please. I need to find a simple to use programme ie free, or low-cost, which will allow me to use my webcam as a security camera when I am not in. Recently things have been going missing in my house and i would like to catch the culprit red-handed. My laptop has a security chain so it is safe. The thief wouldn't even consider that my laptop could catch them on camera.

Maybe you could do the following:
Establish two Skype accounts. One on your laptop and another on some other computer you have access to. Establish a call (video) connection with the remote computer, from your laptop. Dim the monitor to black on your laptop and shut the sound off. You can now go to the remote computer and see and hear what your laptop sees and hears. Skype video calls are free! Be sure what you are doing is consistent with law in your area.
