if i sell my laptop on craigslist, who pays the shipping? me or the customer?
i put my laptop fro sell on the local craigslist site for my area, but someone out of state (and region) wants to buy it. i was selling the 1 month old laptop at almost 20% off, so i'm taking a loss to begin with. do they or I pay the shipping?
The premise of craigslist is that seller/buyer are in same general vicinity--that's why site is set up for different cities and sellers often post their neighborhoods within that city. In this case, you're not obligated to sell to potential buyer out of state/region unless s/he will pay postage. BUT, it makes me leery anyway how this individual is going to pay you ... by check or money order? Will those even clear? If I were purchasing a laptop, I would want to power it up and see how it works. No deal. You don't have to provide an explanation but if need be, just say you're in no position to package and guarantee the laptop will remain fully operational, if mailed. Period.
